My Daytime Skin Care Routine
I wasn't really particular with my skin care regimen in the morning time before. I was just contented with washing my face using only water. Heck, I cleansed my face only once a day which was during bath time! (The horror!)
Since I was a teenager, I've relied on using Pond's facial wash and face cream and I never really gave much thought about doing anything further. When I started getting into the Korean skin care routine, the first thing I did was change my cleansing foam and shift to using aloe vera soothing gel as my moisturizer.
In this post, I will show the products I currently use for the my daytime skin care routine. I will be posting a separate review for each in the future, I will just simply introduce the products I use.
Step 1 - Cleansing : 3W Clinic Brown Rice Foam Cleasing
or
Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash
I used to have a Sahara-like dry skin and using Pond's facial foam seemed to have aggravated it. I assume too much skin was being stripped.
I discovered this 3W Clinic Foam Cleansing in Shopee and it caught my interest as it was quite cheap; PHP99 (approx. 2 USD) for 100 ml. I initially didn't like it because I thought it was doing nothing, but when I had issues with over-exfoliation, this actually helped in rescuing my skin from the damage. I first tried the green tea variant and posted a short review on my personal IG account. You can check it here.
I bought this Himalaya facial wash mid last year because I saw one of my favorite Youtubers using this brand. Though after using it a few times, I somewhat lost interest in it. However, I started using it again this March and I can now say that I like it. I use this alternately with the 3W clinic. I use this just to remove the excess sebum upon waking up since my face is basically clean.
Step 2 - Toning : Valencia Gio Collagen Toner
I have been loving the Valencia Gio line which is a Korean cosmetics company under Samsung. The first product I've tried from this line was their Aloe Vera Toner and I posted a mini review on it here.
This collagen toner is the second variant I've tried and I also have the gold one but I use it at my nighttime routine. This is a hydrating toner and it preps the skin for better absorption of moisturizers.
Step 3 - Moisturizer : Farmstay Aloe Vera Soothing Gel
Mamonde Rose water Soothing Gel
Valencia Gio Gold Moisturizer
I have an immense love and obsession with moisturizers that I put about 3-4 layers on my skin both for my daytime and nighttime skin care routines. I actually prefer soothing gels as they get easily absorbed by the skin.
I have already tried several such as:
- Nature Republic Aloe Vera soothing gel
- Ekel Snail soothing gel
- Mamonde Rose water soothing gel
- Foodaholic Snail soothing gel
- Farmstay Aloe Vera soothing gel
I will be posting a review on each soon but I've already posted a short one for Ekel Snail soothing gel. The ones below are what I'm using currently.
This Farmstay Aloe Vera soothing gel is the first moisturizer I put on my face as it doesn't have a sticky feel and it gets absorbed by the skin very quickly. Though I make sure to put only a small amount. I actually like it better than the Nature Republic one as it does not leave a tacky feel even if you put a lot.
This rose water soothing gel from Mamonde is what I put for the second layer. I would say this is my most favorite out of all the soothing gels I have tried. It has an ice soothing sensor which gives a cooling effect on the skin as if the gel just came out from the fridge.
This gold cream from Valencia Gio is something I use only when I'm going out, especially when wearing make up. It's not a primer but I feel like it is as it has a silicone feel to it and it is tacky so it somehow helps my foundation to adhere well on my skin.
Step 4 - Protection : Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting UV Cream Moisturiser
I have been an avid Olay user for years and I still am though I'm starting to kind of let go using their skin care products as they contain a lot of chemicals that can be harmful to the skin in the long run. I will just stick to using their soaps.
This was given to me by my sister as gift and it's a moisturizer with SPF. I would have liked it better if it had PA+++ to it. However, I recently found out that it contains Methyl Hydroxybenxoate and Propyl Hydroxybenzoate which are parabens. I don't have any allergic reaction to them but better avoid putting such preservatives on my skin. Since their Regenerist line is on the pricey side, I didn't want this to go to waste so I will just consume the contents of this bottle and I will place it on my list of "products to avoid".
I'm sure that the products I use will change in a few months as I always try something new. Much as I want to repurchase a certain product I like, there are too many products out there that are waiting to be tested. I will be regularly updating my skin care routine and make a post about it of course.
I will be posting my nighttime skin care routine next so please stay tune for that.
Love lots and go feed your skin,
Lovely
